About Koehler Intrinsically Safe Lights

Koehler Intrinsically Safe Lights are made by Koehler Brightstar. Founded in 1912, this Pennsylvania-based company has been at the forefront of innovation for jobsite lighting. They are the original manufacturers of the first naphtha-burning safety light that was developed for safe use in coal mines where a non-combustible lighting source was necessary. Soon after, they developed the first rechargeable cap lamp to be used in mines and similar settings. The company also produced the first cap lamp powered by a lithium-ion battery – a power source still seen as the most reliable source for rechargeable lighting. 

Even as technology, manufacturing, and distribution change and grow, their products are still developed and manufactured in the United States, ensuring the same strict quality standards are upheld. As they continue to develop new products to better meet the needs of today’s modern jobsite, Koehler products offer the same reliability, safety, and functionality their customers depend on.

What Is Intrinsically Safe?

Intrinsically Safety is a method of design specifically for hazardous areas where combustible material may be present. Intrinsically Safe Lights from Koehler are certified to use in Class 1 Division 1 hazardous areas while providing bright, effective illumination without the risk of ignition or combustion.
