Types of Fall Protection Lanyards
There are two types of fall protection lanyards: 1) fall restraint lanyard and 2) fall arrest lanyard. A fall restraint lanyard prohibits the wearer from reaching a hazardous position where a fall might occur and is often adjustable with one end attached to an anchor and the other end attached to the wearer.
A fall arrest lanyard is used in situations where fall hazards can’t be avoided. This type of lanyard has an energy-absorbing element that reduces the impact force on the wearer’s body and on the anchoring point and is typically made of rope, webbing, or cable.
