Each year the Carolina Association of General Contractors (CAGC) gives out a Pinnacle award to projects in four different categories.  The 2016 award for “Best Building Project – $5 Million and Over” went to Romeo Guest Associates for the Duke University Chapel Restoration.  As an integral part of this project, Associated Scaffolding received a “Pinnacle Partner” award.  These awards were handed out at the annual CACG Convention, which this year was held on St. Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands.

Associated Scaffolding President Tommy Hawkins and Vice President Rick DeMent joined Wes Foushee and Scott Downer from Romeo Guest Associates at the awards presentation ceremony.

In May of 2015 a comprehensive renovation began on the historic Duke Chapel, located on the campus of Duke University in Durham, NC.  With a fixed schedule of just 365 days from start to finish, this audacious project was meticulously planned and executed by Associated Scaffolding and Romeo Guest Associates, Inc.

In many ways this was a very technically challenging renovation, and one of the most difficult projects we’ve faced in our 70 years of business. Scaffolding was built to allow workers to replace the lead-coated copper roof, as well as seven of the large stained glass windows.  On the interior, great care was taken to avoid damaging the three massive pipe organs while allowing workers access to clean the intricate woodwork and limestone mortar in the 73 foot ceiling.  Associated Scaffolding was privileged to be a part of such a prestigious job.
